About Breilla and the Person Behind It All

Breilla kennels is owned by Alicia Jolliffe who is part of the fourth generation of a show dog family that been involved in many breeds through the years. Alicia is a licensed handler judge in Queensland after competing in, and placing in, state finals during her junior years. Her grandfather is all-breeds judge, Victor Jones of Waratah Kennels (Jack Russell Terriers, Cocker Spaniels and English Setters). Her mother is Margaret East of Sagapore Kennels and sister is Anthea McFarland of Wysiwyg Kennels who together continue to breed and exhibit high quality Cocker Spaniels, English Setters and Golden Retrievers with one of their homebred cocker spaniels gaining his American championship title in 2002.

The breeds Alicia has been involved in include Cocker Spaniels (English and American), Jack Russell Terriers, English Setters, English Springer Spaniels, Golden Retrievers, Great Danes, Shiba Inus and Greyhounds.

Her love of Pointers began with the gift of two puppies in 1997 from Tintookie Kennels in W.A.. One of which went on to be Alicia's first champion - Tintookie Fairy Tale (Yoshi) while the other, Tintookie Lies'n Inuendo (Billy) became an active yet non-competing agility dog who excelled at every task set for him. The Breilla prefix was registered in 1998 with the first litter bred in 1999 from foundation bitch, Tintookie Fairy Tale to Australian Champion Zelgren First Fleet owned by Alison Green and Chuck Zellers.

Yoshi's first litter was followed up one year later with a mating to Ch Haywyn The Ultimate owned by Tracey Lane of Ndolge Kennels. This litter produced seven puppies including the first champion under the Breilla prefix, Breilla Bamboozle (orange and white bitch) who was owned and campaigned by Helen McCready of Tukeglen Kennels - This litter also produced a strong brood bitch named Breilla Shenannigens, owned by Liz Christensen of Zuhra horse stud (Arabs) and formerly Zeehanna Kennels, now known as Zuhraan Kennels.

Many thanks must go to Lee and Ray from Tintookie kennels in Western Australia for the wonderful present of Yoshi and her brother Billy - two great dogs who will always be in my heart and a debt I will repay in the best way one day. A very special mention also goes to Neil Curwen or Barragan Kennels who helped me get back into the ring by allowing Trent to join my home for twelve months, and finally thank you to Liz for breeding with Shania and giving me the opportunity to start again with the foundations I laid.

Bless my boy and girl up in heaven. EMAIL: breilla@hotmail.com

2003

2003 saw our return to the show ring after a two year absence. I was delighted with the degree of success after having to start over. It is hoped 2004 sees the continued growth of Breilla Kennels after the devastation of late 2003.

2004

A young dog from Tukeglen Kennels, Tukeglen Nock Em Back,  joined Breilla and he enjoyed large successes while here including a Best in Group win at seven months of age and numerous puppy in group and in show awards. He went to live in North Qld where he went on to win Best In Group at his debut show which gave him the points he needed to finish off his title. June 2004 saw the arrival of Tintookie Xtraspecial from Perth as well as Tintookie Stepnoutnstyle and the Great Dane, Azadane Daring and Dash. While August 2004 was marked by the arrival of 12 puppies from Breilla Serenade to Aust Champion Barragan Calvin Klein making this the first, 2nd generation Breilla litter. One of these puppies went on to be awarded numerous in show wins including Minor Puppy in Show at the Toowoomba Royal Show (Breilla Gotta Have Fate, owned by Jenny Robb, Qld). Another of this litter went on to begin training as an assistance dog for the disabled (Breilla Arethusa's Hope). A sister from this litter was earmarked as future breeding material, Breilla Mighty Aphrodite.

2005

Showing was kept to a minimum in 2005, however the shining moment was Tintookie Xtraspecial (Jack)  being awarded Best Of Breed at the Toowoomba Royal Show (19 points) under an International judge, and then ending the year with a closely fought Runner Up of Breed to his uncle, Aust Gr Ch Barragan Giorgio Armani at the Classic Dog show in NSW (37 Pointers entered) and Jack's daughter, Zuhraan Catch A Dream (Sunni), winning Baby Puppy of Breed at the same show from an entry of 7 babies.

2006

Limited showing again in 2006, but it has already started well with Tintookie Xtraspecial attaining his Australian Championship over a weekend of showing in Armidale against strong competition. Zuhraan Catch a Dream (Sunni) had a great weekend also coming first in the baby puppy sweepstakes on the Friday then being awarded 2 reserve bitch challenges at 6 months of age and 6 months and one day. She was also awarded Minor Puppy in Group at one of the shows.

Sunni gave me my finest moment. She was my first Pointer that was of my breeding (I own the sire and bred the dam) who I have handled to an "in show" win.

Jack proved himself again under another international judge, taking out reserve dog challenge at the 2006, Toowoomba Royal Show.

Hoping the trend continues...

What's new?

Hey! Did you know that the Breilla Pointers website has recently been revamped... check it out and feel free to give feedback in the guestbook.

PUPPIES BORN MAY 25, 2006. Five female and six male. Photos are now in the "Puppy Pen".

Breilla Mighty Aphrodite (Satu) has been mated to Australian Grand Champion Robwyn Lets Get Serious (Ryker).

Ryker is a top winning Pointer out of American "Bee Serious" lines and is the sire of some of the top winning stock currently in the ring. His most successful progeny is the dog, Aust Ch Silvagun James Dean. (JD)

JD's mother, Ch Morauda Lemon Twist, is the litter sister to Aust Gr Ch Morauda Chocolate Chip... who is Satu's grandsire.

This litter is eagerly anticipated. Expressions of interest in the puppies are now being taken. Only orange and lemon puppies will be produced in this litter.
